Graphic mark for a photography studio planned by the 64 MAG team
001
Context
In 2025, the 64 MAG team asked me to create a graphic mark for 64 Studios, a new photography studio they were launching as part of the magazine
64 MAG is an online magazine and curated platform focused on contemporary photography and visual culture. The new team decided to expand the project beyond media by opening a physical photography studio under its name. The studio had become something of an idée fixe that they wanted to bring to life immediately. This left me a single weekend to create a distinctive mark that would remain connected to the magazine while giving the new space a recognisable identity of its own

Form exploration
1 / 3
Graphic form
To maintain visual continuity between 64 MAG and 64 Studios, I began by exploring forms based on the number 64 itself. None felt convincing enough, so I continued looking for another direction
2 / 3
Step back
Returning to 64 MAG’s profile image, I followed the same principle of reinterpreting familiar forms. One earlier silhouette suggested hoop rolling, where the hoop and stick form the number 6
3 / 3
AI wars
The first generated image showed that the running child’s legs could form the number 4 alongside the number 6. Finding the exact pose took more than 100 iterations with Midjourney, Freepik, and GPT, and by the end the prompts looked more like swearing than prompt engineering. Since the tools kept failing to reproduce the required leg position, intermediate images were edited in Photoshop and used as visual references for subsequent attempts
003
Graphic mark
With the pose resolved, the image was manually refined, distressed, and layered with textures to give the graphic mark its final look
04
Outcome
After a weekend at my computer, the 64 MAG team approved the mark straight away, with no revisions. Plans for the studio were later put on hold, and it still hasn’t launched, but I still think the result is pretty cool
